Well here we are Friday June 10, 2005 at 2:30am.
Gloria and I get to go on the Pacific Coast Highway Tour 2005, that we postponed one year. Because Gloria went through a full year of breast cancer.
Bags and bike are packed and we are ready to go. (Sounds like a song) Left our home at 2:30am and the only itinerary we had was to get out of Phoenix as fast as possible so we would not have too much heat, but guess what? We had to stop in Buckeye, AZ to put some jackets on. It was cold in the desert that early in the morning. Stopped in Blythe for some gas, and breakfast, and continued west on I-10 to Indio and stopped to take some pictures of the windmills, then onward to Ventura, CA our first motel around 3:00pm 550 miles later. (Were Bill and I stayed. On the Pacific Coast Highway Tour 2003.) But they were booked up because of graduations. So we looked through the old handy GPS and found another motel, we walked on the pier, and found a place to eat at Andrea’s Seafood Restaurant. Then back to the motel for some sleep.

Saturday June 11, 2005 Ventura to Pismo Beach
Got
up this morning and left for Santa Barbara on RT 1 for breakfast around
7:30am stopped at the original Sambo's and the only one still around.
Waited
about 45 minutes for a seat, but was well worth the wait.
Then
we got back on the bike to San Luis Obispo. About halfway to San Luis
Obispo
a bug flew in between my helmet and into may ear, well needless to say
that was a fast stop to get the damn bug out of my ear. (Buzzing around
it there) thought we got it out but was still in there, Gloria could
not
see anything so we thought we should find a Medical professional to
look
into may ear. Found a firehouse at Lompoc. No one there so we found the
paramedics outside of the hospital, and they took a look but could not
see any thing, guess the bug had enough and left.

We
continued to Pismo Beach found a motel check in, and went to the beach
to walk around, and had dinner.
Went
back to the beach to watch the sunset in over the ocean in the cold and
wind.

|
Well
that did not work either, because it went down behind a mountain. We
see
that all the time in Arizona.
So
much for that maybe tomorrow.

We
are up at 6:00am. Wow is it cold (36 degrees). We are headed to
Yosemite.
But guess what?
It's
closed won't open for about another 2 weeks, because of avalanches. We
were able to go up about 11 miles
and
took some great pictures as far as we could. we had to turn around at
the
gate where a park ranger was.
"Now
what do we do"?
"Lets
go to Kingman and stay the night and then we can go to
Pinetop-Lakeside,
Az"
At
our home away from home.

We
needed to stop at the Cottontail Ranch for some cold water and
entertainment
But
the Brothel was closed.
Good
thing we brought our on water and entertainment.....LOL
Oh
well onward to Vegas, then Kingman.
We
thought this part of the ride would never end in this heat.
Boy
was this a long day 13 hours in the saddle, over 575 miles.
